Transport Guidelines

By choosing to purchase or hire any equipment from Unit Group, you are acknowledging and agreeing to comply with the terms and conditions outlined in the following transport guidelines.

We require a full 48hr’s notice prior to delivery/collection on a working day (weekend/bank holidays not included) for cancellation.

While we make every effort to plan and schedule deliveries based on agreed dates, it is important to note that we cannot provide a 100% guarantee on delivery dates. There are factors beyond our control, such as traffic conditions, road closures, driver illness, and unforeseen issues at depots, that may impact the delivery schedule. We appreciate your understanding and assure you that we will do our best to minimise any disruptions and keep you informed of any changes that may arise. We understand the importance of specific delivery dates, if urgency is a factor, we recommend considering a paid premium AM delivery slot. This option allows for the entire day to accommodate any unforeseen circumstances, although it is important to note that even with this selection, we cannot provide an absolute guarantee. We strive to prioritise timely deliveries and appreciate your understanding in situations that may arise beyond our control.

We will need to be informed of the following:

  • Underground cables.
  • Manhole covers/drains.
  • Overhead cables, including the following:
    • Height
    • Type e.g Power, Electrical.
  • Overhanging trees e.g. height of branches.
  • The unit(s) will need to be lifted over other containers, fences, walls,
  • buildings and any other obstacles.
  • The unit(s) will need to go inside a building.
  • The unit(s) to be double stacked on site

Failure to advise any of the above, may result in a full aborted delivery and collection charge.

Useful Information

We carry out deliveries/collections with our sub-contracted hauliers for our 8ft, 10ft or 20ft units to your site with a 38ft long x 9ft wide rigid hi-ab vehicle.

The delivery/collection for a 40ft conainter unit to your site will need to be made on a 63ft long x 9ft wide artic vehicle.

We will require the vehicle to gain entry to site/location successfully – 28ft clearance in height (to lift) and a minimum of 10ft clearance in width.

Your site must have level, hard standing access (Unit Hire’s sub-contracted hauliers will not drive over fields, grass, muddy areas or uneven ground) If your site has one or more of these problems, we will need to arrange for our subcontracted hauliers transport manager to attend site to carry out a site survey prior to delivery/collection which is charged at around £150.00+VAT dependent on haulier. Find more information about what Ground Preparation is needed before container delivery.

If you require us to offload our units whilst being on a public highway, then you will need to obtain a permit from your local council, prior to delivery/collection.

Due to factors outside our control (traffic, hold up on sites, etc.) we cannot guarantee timed deliveries/collections. All transport is made between the hours of 8am – 7pm. We allow one hour on-site to offload, anything over one hour will incur waiting time charges per hour or part thereof.

Please ensure you are satisfied with the container(s) and unit(s) are level, doors open/shut correctly and padlock (if ordered) works. By signing for the delivery you are confirming units are satisfactory. If any queries, you must get in touch with the office before driver leaves site.
